Safety Policy

The policy has the six basic requirements of Montana SafeFund and the additional components required of an organization with more than five employees. Each requirement and SEC's Safety Compliance Plan are listed below:

New Employee Safety Orientation
Each new employee will be given a copy of our Safety Policy and the SEC Safety Compliance Plan. Each new employee will be taken on a tour of the USFS Condon Work Center in order to acquaint him/her with the safety issues and location of safety/first aid equipment.

Task Specific Safety Training
This training would occur at the same time as the new employee orientation.

Regular Refresher Safety Training
This would occur the first week of May and the first week of January of each year, at a regularly scheduled staff meeting.

Safety Awareness Promotion
Safety posters, new safety regulations, etc. will be posted on the bulletin board in the SEC Creation Room.

Self-Inspection
Staff members will be encouraged to discuss hazards and unsafe work practices or conditions, identify corrective action and the safety committee will document when the corrective action occurs.

Documentation of the Previous Five Actions
All safety records will be stored in the right-hand side drawer of the main desk in the Visitor Center including the above written information.

Safety Compliance Plan

Specific safety responsibilities and safety performance accountability will be assigned to the SEC Safety Committee consisting of Paula Clarke, Diann Ericson and Betsy Spettigue for a term of three years, until January 2012 (Betsy 2013). This committee will be responsible for investigating accidents and seeing that corrective action is taken on all work-related incidents, injuries, illnesses and known unsafe work conditions or practices.

Employees should report any injury regardless of how minor to a member of the Safety Committee. Procedures for an injury report are posted on the bulletin board in the Creation Room.

The Safety Committee will hold a meeting in September each year, in addition to the May and January meetings.
