Hiring Policy

The SEC Hiring Policy must reflect SEC's GOAL G: Provide opportunities for local people to receive tangible benefits from good land management and learning center operations. Goal G does not, however, limit SEC to hiring only local people if skilled local people cannot be found.

Avoid conflict of interest. Conflict of interest can occur when a board member has a close personal or business interest in a person being considered for employment or any other action that might economically benefit that person.
The Board of Directors must consider conflict of interest when hiring but is not restricted from hiring relatives of board members.

The Executive Committee/Board of Directors must review the job description, competitive selection process and starting wage.

All jobs will begin with a probationary period.

The unsuccessful applicants will be notified as to the reason for non-selection.
