Private forest landowners often face similar land management decisions as federal and state agencies and commercial landowners. It can be difficult even after identifying your management goals for your forest and wetlands to visualize the final product. Tours such as this one provide an opportunity to observe first hand different prescribed treatments and results. There is no one-best treatment in forestry, each unique site has a variety of management options. For this reason, Swan Ecosystem Center is pleased to offer a bus tour of forest restoration/forest stewardship projects completed in the Swan Valley over the last four years. The tour will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with a lunch break from 12:00 to 12:30.
The leaders for the tour include Mike Palladini and Roger Marshall, land stewards for Swan Ecosystem Center and Allen Branine, fire supervisor of the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation's Swan River State Forest.
There is no fee but donations for SEC's education program will be gratefully accepted. The deadline to sign up is July 30th. For more information and to sign up, call Swan Ecosystem Center (406) 754-3137.
