Highlights from 2011:

Perfect racing conditions for runners, a bit soggy for race officials describes the 9th running of the Celebrate the Swan Race. Ten half marathon participants lined up at nine o'clock to test our challenging course. An hour and forty-four minutes later, Vadine Rispens sprinted across the finish line, besting her last year's excellent time by several minutes. "I love this course," she said, "It's a real workout!"

Rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the 5K and 10K runners who went out at ten o'clock. "What a gorgeous setting" was a comment heard repeatedly at the finish line where participants munched on homemade cookies, and winners collected Bob Egan's race mugs, ribbons, and gift certificates from The Hungry Bear Steak House and the Grizzly Claw Trading Company.

Except for the cancellation of the kids' games the race was, what everyone agreed, a huge success. Kudos go out to our many local volunteers and sponsors and donors without whom this race would only be a dream. Thank you for making it a reality! Hope to see you on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012—our 10th Annual Celebrate the Swan Race!
