Under sunny skies a small but motivated group of runners gathered on July 11, 2009 for the 7th annual Celebrate the Swan Race. There were great times by a number of runners. The most notable was by Great Falls High's distance runner Will Strauss in the half marathon, 1:28:16. His time bested the previous record marathon time for the Celebrate the Swan Race. It will be exciting to follow Will's running this fall as he competes in cross country for Great Falls.
Many runners were returnees who like the course as well as the camaraderie of this race in rural western Montana. One of the advantages of the race this year was that almost everyone won either one of Bob Eagen's pottery mugs, a ribbon or a gift certificate from one of the local eateries - the Swan Cafe, the Hungry Bear Steak House or the Mission Mountain Mercantile. Many thanks to our sponsors and donors who along with dozens of local volunteers, and last but not least, the runners, for another race in this special place. See you in 2010!
