Flathead National Forest Plan Revision

Public Participation for Swan Watershed

The Flathead National Forest (FNF) is currently revising their 27 year old forest plan.  The plan has been amended many times since its implementation in 1986, but this will be the first complete makeover of the Forest Plan since that time, following a new planning rule published in the Federal Register in 2012. Since December, the FNF has held meetings to involve public interest groups and individuals. In April, the forest will begin discussions on specific geographic areas.  The “Swan” geography (which includes the entire Swan River Watershed) will have its day on April 22nd.  A meeting will be held in Kalispell at the Flathead Forest Supervisor’s Office (5:30pm to 9:00pm) to discuss geographic area considerations. For information on FNF forest planning, a calendar of upcoming meetings, supporting documents, as well as an on-line forum for participation visit: http://merid.org/FNFplanrevision.aspx
